From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
